Programs & Activities

Due to the current Covid 19 situation and resulting escalation of public health measures to slow the spread and impact of the virus, the Nundah Neighbourhood Centre and Brisbane North Community Legal Service has made the difficult decision to close its doors to the public as of close of business Thursday the 19th March 2020.  This will be in place until further notice with regular assessments on the safest practice measures in delivering services.

During this time the following will be put on hold

  • Room Hire – if you have a booking please contact us by phone or email
  • Groups and other activities offered by the Centre including English Language Classes, Community Lunch, sewing and yoga
  • Visiting programs and activities
  • Wednesday Evening Walk In Legal Service
  • Drop in services including phone, computer etc
  • Food and other emergency relief including St Vincent’s visiting service – please contact them for a phone appointment
  • Face to face appointments and walk in enquires

We will be offering telephone appointments to those that have a booked appointment until further notice.

We are working with our community to do anything we can to help our most vulnerable members during this time and will endeavour to continue to maintain telephone and email contact.  If you have any questions or do require legal advice or other assistance please contact our office.


Our Programs and Activities

The Nundah Neighbourhood Centre Opening Hours for programs and activities will be as follows:

Information and Referral

9:00am – 4.30pm (Monday to Thursday)

Information and referral services are provided either over the phone, in person or via our website.  We can assist with a wide range of issues including

  • Emergency Relief
  • Housing
  • Family and parenting issues
  • Legal
  • Local Nundah services
  • This is a referral/information service only, we do not provide housing or emergency relief

Family Support and Counselling

We offer individual counselling and support to assist people experiencing difficult life circumstances.  Cost is $10 per appointment depending on your financial circumstances.

Journeys Program

Twice yearly the Nundah Neighbourhood Centre runs a free, confidential eight week group program for women who have experienced violence and/or other forms of abuse in their intimate relationships. This group will be facilitated by two counsellors and will combine therapeutic and educational components.

The group will address such issues as:

  • The impact of violence & abuse on women and children
  • Safety for both women & children
  • Personal strengths and resourcefulness


The group will encourage women to:

  • Look after their physical & emotional well being
  • Explore their thoughts & feelings
  • Rebuild their Confidence & Self Esteem
  • Build positive & supportive relationships with others
  • Gain information that will allow them to make informed choices and regain control over their lives


The group is open to any women who have experienced domestic violence in their intimate relationships.


ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes

10.00am – 12.00 pm (Monday and Thursday)

Conversational English Classes are held twice a week on a Monday and Thursday morning.  These classes are free and open to anyone in the community wanting to improve their English language skills.

There is no need to book in, just turn up and join in.

Cost: Gold coin donation


Computer Lab

9.00am – 4.30pm (Monday to Thursday)

Services include internet access, Microsoft Office Programs, photocopying and printing.  If you require printing you will be required to give a small donation for cost of supplies.



Playgroup is currently on hold while we look for a new facilitator

Playgroup is for families with children under the age of 5.

Community Garden

The Community Garden is open to anyone interested in growing vegetables and herbs in a communal space.  A group of volunteers meets regularly to plant, care for and harvest the produce, which is then shared between participants as well as used for our Tuesday Community Lunch.


Sewing Group

10:00am – 12:00pm (Wednesday)

This is a multicultural group that anyone can join, we provide sewing machines, materials etc for families to make clothing.

We welcome any donations of materials, cotton, buttons, zips etc. These can be donated from Monday to Thursday 9.00am – 4.30pm.


Community Lunch

11.00am – 12.30pm (Tuesday)

Every Tuesday a group of volunteers prepare lunch for members of the community. This is a very social activity and an opportunity to meet other members of the Centre and local community while enjoying a healthy meal which is served in our outdoor area (weather permitting).
