History

The Nundah Community Support Group Inc (NCSGI) was formed from the impetus of the local community, incorporated on 21st November 1991.  In 1992 with funding from the then Department of Family Services, the Nundah Community Centre(NCC) opened premises with community education, family support and other services on offer.  It’s further initial ambition was fulfilled with the 1993 launching of the free Nundah Community Legal Service (NCLS), staffed solely by volunteers.  Financial difficulties led to the NCLS brief closure, but Government funding allowed it’s reopening in 2002 and for some time from 2005, there was a daytime family law clinic.  Increased Legal Aid Queensland funding in 2008 enabled the employment of a “generalist” Principal Solicitor for daytime consultation by appointment.

Since that time the Organisation has undertaken many different projects and offered a wide variety of programs and activities to the local Nundah Community.  Throughout this time we have been very fortunate to retain our core funding for both the Neighbourhood Centre and the Community Legal Service.

In 2010 the old building which had been home to the Nundah Community Support Group and Community Legal Service for the past 20 years was torn down and a purpose built Community Centre was constructed on the land.  On March 31st 2011, Nundah Neighbourhood Centre and Community Legal Service had an official opening and celebration of 20 years.

The NCSGI now employs 8 part time staff to provide a range of community services to Nundah and surrounding suburbs.  Volunteers continue to play a significant role in the delivery of services and programs at the Centre with over 40 volunteers currently involved with the organisation.
